On the go

Boy...I really need to update the picture at the top of my blog! We are FINALLY snow free here in Woodbury, except for the small patch that's hanging on in the middle of the culdesac. We got a new computer a few months back and I haven't made the time to reinstall any of my photo editing software...so I need to get on that so I can crop a few pictures, sunnier pictures!

We had a fun, BUSY weekend. Date night was Friday...as I mentioned a few days back. Scot took the initiative and called our preschool teacher earlier in the week, who has a 14 year old daughter Jessi. She sent home a flyer in Ava's backpack a few months back, offering up her babysitting services, so we finally decided to indulge her. Ava took to her immediately (someone new to control!) and was busily teaching Jessi how to play Sequence for Kids when we left. Ava barely looked up at us when we told her we were leaving. Reese paused from some toys to give us a smile and a wave. Off to a good start! I had a Living Social coupon for a place in downtown Hudson - Urban Olive and Vine, so we decided to go there. It was a really cute, small wine bar/restaurant and they had a Brazilian jazz band playing that night. Wine, cheese, dinner live music, just the two of us. What more could we want? It was great. Came home around 9:30 to find that the girls were asleep in their beds and Jessi was still in one piece - even better!

On Saturday, my friend/coworker Matt guilted me enough to join him on a 26 mile bike ride that some folks from Medtronic had organized to prepare for the MS150. And...it wasn't that bad! We kept about a 11-12 mph pace, took a few short breaks. I think the last 5 miles did me in, though, as my legs cramped up later on Sunday/Monday. But it was a good confidence builder - this may not be SO bad when the time comes! I've put on about 60 miles now this spring over 4 rides. I hope to keep up the momentum and get out a couple of times each week. It should be easier now that the weather is finally cooperating!

Had brunch with my book club girlfriends on Sunday and then later in the afternoon we were off to the Waterpark of America, which I had purchased tickets in advance as a fundraiser for my bikeride. It was a zoo but the girls still had a blast.

Scot is en route to Miami now for a few days...hopefully the girls and I will be able to enjoy a lot of time outside while he's away.

They are both doing well. We just got Ava back in gymnastics through Community Ed - she has had 2 classes so far (Monday nights) and is really enjoying it. Reese is still our little bundle of personality - she is really talking up a storm these days. Between the two of them, it's rare that the house is ever quiet during their waking hours!

Babysitter booked, reservations set. Scot and I are going out to dinner on Friday night. Alone! We may just sit and not say one single thing to each other...not for lack of things to talk about it, but because it would be q.u.i.e.t.
