Say Yes To The Dress

Huge congrats go out to my sister-in-law Julie who is now engaged to "Toddy" as we all affectionately call him. He popped the question last month with an amazing, amazing ring and we are all so excited to have him join the family! They have set the date [October 16th] and the venue [Como Park Conservatory] and Julie invited me to go dress shopping with her a few weeks ago at The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul. I was honored and thrilled to accompany her and let's face it, live vicariously through her as she tried on dresses which have come such a long, long way from 1998 ;-)

I think it was the 3rd or 4th dress that was the winner and it is absolutely perfect!

Julie and Todd have asked Ava and Reese to be flower girls. Ava, of course, is over the moon, and Reese actually gave a rousing fist pump in all of the excitement. And naturally the cute meter will be off the charts come October.

Me gusta Puerto Rico.

OK...so yes, I'm long overdue for a blog entry. Sorry Mom.

Puerto Rico was a blast - you may recall I was fairly concerned about the lack of time it seemed I would be spending with Scot. However, all of the worrying was for naught as he was there with me for 4 out of the 5 days I was there. It couldn't have worked out much better than that!

Our agenda was light - we were unable to really go anywhere or do any excursions because Scot needed to be available in case he was called up to fly. So, we spent most of our time by the pool and the ocean, which was just fine with me. With running around after 2 young children at home all the time, I was perfectly content to take it easy while on vacation. It was truly relaxing. I've only been away from Ava overnight a handful of times and this was the first time I was away from Reese. 5 days was just about perfect - by that time, I was really missing them and happy to be back, but also felt like Scot and I had some great quality time together. It did rain one day, so we took a bus into Old San Juan to have some lunch and do some shopping.

And everyone survived in my absence - my parents did a great job. Julie and Todd gave them a break on a Sunday and took Ava to the St. Paul Winter Carnival for a few hours. Then they had the luxury of using daycare on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, they generously gave their time and painted Reese's bedroom - it looks really nice! I found some bedding that I liked and went with a celery green color. Thanks again Mom and Dad!

I didn't take too many pictures but here are a few...
The hotel pool. With poolside bingo at 2 pm every day. Ahhh...

Enjoying a pina colada. We had drink tickets galore, which was fabulous.
