We were invited to a Literacy Celebration in Ava's classroom a few weeks ago. The kids had worked on putting together reports about animals to cap off their non-fiction reading unit. They each stood up and shared a few interesting facts about their chosen animal. Ava's report was about gorillas. She even did the cover by herself on the computer. It is pretty crazy what they can do on the computer already in first grade.
The second semester started a few weeks ago and more after school activities became available. We arrived too late in the school year for Ava to sign up in the fall, so she was really excited to be able to start now. She chose to take Arts and Crafts on Wednesdays and Cooking on Thursdays. It ends up being a great deal - she stays after school an extra hour and a late bus brings her home.
