Aside from the Halloween Party on Saturday, we had some extra fun over the weekend...Scot and I arranged for a babysitter to come over on Friday night. Her name is Terez, she is a junior at the American School and she conveniently lives across the street from us. :-) I met her when I did the 5K earlier in the month, as she plays basketball for the school team that Kim coaches (and a lot of the kids did the 5K). Her family is from Hungary, her dad works for Charles Schwab in Zagreb, and they've been here for a few years. So, she came over around 5:30, we showed her the ropes, and hightailed it out of the house.
We drove the car to the tram station and rode the tram into the city center. We wined and dined at a really great Italian restaurant and then walked around a little bit. It will be so great to be here when the weather is warmer, as they have outdoor cafes/bars/seating everywhere. We did stop and have some coffee outside with heat lamps bearing down on us. Date Night #1 in Zagreb was grand.
Yesterday we went to a really big mall. We shopped around with the kids for awhile and even had McDonald's in the food court. And perhaps the most fantastic thing of all was that we found they also had a really nice play area inside staffed with babysitters...where you could leave your kids. 2 hours. For free. Genius.
